AI Coach: Daily English is an English-speaking practice app. It lets you have spoken or typed conversations with an AI language coach ("Eli"), practise real-life role-play scenarios, hear replies read aloud, and track a simple practice streak. By downloading or using the app, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

Summary

• The app has no user accounts and does not ask for your name, email, or phone number.
• The text of your conversation with Eli is sent over an encrypted connection to our AI provider (OpenAI) for the sole purpose of generating Eli's reply.
• When you use voice input, your speech is converted to text by your device's own speech-recognition service. The app receives only text; it does not record, store, or upload audio.

Permissions We Request

The app requests only the permissions it needs, each used solely for the stated purpose:

• Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): Used only when you tap the microphone button to speak instead of typing. Your voice is passed to the device's built-in speech-recognition service, which returns text to the app. The app does not record audio to a file, keep it, or send it anywhere. You can deny or revoke this permission and keep using the app by typing.
• Internet Access & Network State (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): Required so Eli can generate replies. Your typed or transcribed message, together with the recent part of the current conversation, is sent to our AI provider to produce a response. Network state is checked so the app can show a clear "offline" message when there is no connection.

The app does not request access to your contacts, camera, location, call logs, SMS, files, or physical activity.

Information We Collect

The app does not require account registration and does not collect personal identifiers such as your name, phone number, or email address. We do not operate a backend server that stores your data.

Conversation content: The messages you send to Eli (typed, or transcribed from your speech by your device) and the recent context of the current conversation are transmitted to our AI provider to generate a reply. This content is processed transiently to answer you; we do not store it on any server we control.

Voice input: When you use the microphone, audio is handled by your device's own speech-recognition service (for example, the Google speech service on many Android devices) and converted to text. The app receives only the resulting text. No audio recording is created, retained, or uploaded by the app.

On-device settings and progress: Your chosen English level, voice accent, text-to-speech speed and pitch, your practice streak, the number of conversations you have had, and which practice scenarios you have marked complete are saved in the app's local storage on your device. This information is not transmitted to us.

Conversation history: The current conversation is kept only in the app's memory while it is open. It is cleared when you tap "Reset" or when the app is closed. It is not written to persistent storage and is not uploaded.

How We Use Information

• To generate Eli's conversational replies and role-play responses.
• To read replies aloud using your device's text-to-speech engine, in the accent and speed you selected.
• To show your practice streak and progress inside the app.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or building any user profile, and we do not sell or rent it.

Data Sharing & Third-party Services

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. The app relies on the following third parties to function:

• OpenAI — receives the text of your conversation (your message plus recent context) to generate Eli's replies. This is essential to the app's core feature. Their handling of that data is governed by the OpenAI Privacy Policy.
• Your device's speech-recognition service (provided by your device manufacturer or by Google) — processes your voice into text when you use voice input. This is a system service on your device, not a component we operate.
• Your device's text-to-speech engine (for example, Google Text-to-Speech) — converts Eli's text replies into spoken audio on your device.
• Google Play Services / Google Play — used for app distribution and updates. Google may collect limited diagnostic information as described in Google's policies.

The app does not include advertising networks, attribution SDKs, or analytics SDKs.

Data Security

All communication between the app and our AI provider is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections. Because your settings, progress, and conversation history stay on your device, their security also depends on your device's own protections, such as a screen lock and up-to-date operating system.

Children's Privacy

The app is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

Data Retention

The app keeps no user data on our servers. Conversation text sent to our AI provider is processed to answer you and is subject to that provider's own retention practices (linked above). On your device, your settings and progress remain until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app; the current conversation is cleared when you tap "Reset" or close the app. Uninstalling the app permanently removes all locally stored data.

• Voice input: You can deny or later revoke the microphone permission in your device settings and continue using the app by typing.
• Conversation history: Use the "Reset" action in a conversation to clear it immediately.
• All local data: Clear the app's storage or uninstall the app to remove your settings and progress.
